National Assembly President Khuon Sodary Meets Shanghai People's Assembly Vice Chairman

Phnom Penh, 3 September 2024 – National Assembly President Khuon Sodary of Cambodia met with Ms. Zong Ming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal People's Assembly, to strengthen legislative ties and enhance cooperation between Cambodia and Shanghai.

President Khuon Sodary warmly welcomed Ms. Zong Ming and her delegation, emphasizing the importance of the visit in deepening the historical friendship and strategic partnership between Cambodia and China. She highlighted that the collaboration aims to expand bilateral relations in line with mutual strategic goals.

Ms. Zong Ming, on her first visit to Cambodia, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised Cambodia’s progress, particularly the achievements under the Belt and Road Initiative, such as the Siem Reap International Airport. She reiterated China's commitment to deepening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation to build a shared future between the two nations.

Ms. Zong Ming also briefed President Khuon Sodary on Shanghai’s role as a key economic hub in China and invited Cambodian businesses to participate in the 7th Import Trade Fair in Shanghai from November 5-10, 2024, encouraging them to showcase Cambodian products and services.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment to expanding economic collaboration and fostering mutual prosperity through strengthened legislative and business ties between Cambodia and Shanghai.
